The Mysterious Bikini Island
At the southernmost tip of Guam, a little-known sandbar sits in the ocean halfway between the Malesso’ Pier and Cocos Island. This stretch of white sand is Bikini Island, and it offers unmatched panoramic views of Southern Guam and Cocos Island. Dan’s Marine Resort, exclusive tour operator of Bikini Island, serves up a bucket list of marine activities from which guests can choose to create a unique and tailored adventure.
Dan’s Marine Resort offers jet skiing, dolphin watching, parasailing, snorkeling, kayaking, banana boat rides, seawalker, wake board, bamboo fishing, camping, and more. The company is also a full service dive shop and home of the Super Mable, an adrenaline-pumping ride that is towed by a jet ski.
“All of our activities take place in one area, so it’s very convenient for guests because it allows them to maximize their time,” said Norbert Quinata, marketing manager for Dan’s Marine Resort. “Our guests don’t have to go to one area for parasailing and then another area for dolphin watching. We’re all inclusive.”
The popular and affordable Marine Pack is locally priced at just $99 for ages 11 and up ($75 for ages 4-10), and delivers an action-packed day that includes dolphin watching, three banana boat rides, a visit to Bikini Island and the longest standard jet ski open course. All packages include a tasty fiesta plate barbecue lunch.
“We specialized in creating unique experiences for our guests. Whatever you can dream up, we’ll work to make it happen,” said Quinata. “Say you wanted to camp out at Bikini Island or even Cocos Island. We can arrange for that.”
Located next to the Malesso’ Pier, Dan’s Marine Resort has been creating unique adventures for guests for over 12 years. Call them at 828-8889 to start planning yours.
Adventure River Boat Cruise
Connect with nature and learn about ancient Chamorro culture and history as you glide along the Talofofo and Ugum rivers on an Adventure River Boat Cruise. As part of the Valley of the Latte Adventure Park, the cruise takes guests on a peaceful journey through the natural beauty of Talofofo including the near the area where Sergeant Shoichi Yokoi hid for almost 28 years after the end of World War II.
Guests can feed catfish and needlefish and might spot a wild pig or carabao on the riverbanks. The adventure includes a visit to a replica ancient Chamorro village where guests can explore latte stones, botanical gardens, and learn how to build fires and weave baskets as the ancient Chamorros once did.
Build upon the Adventure River Boat Cruise tour by adding a visit to the park’s animal sanctuary. Guests can purchase corn to feed deer and get up close to other local animals such as pig, coconut crab, hilitai (monitor lizard) and carabao. The Valley of the Latte Adventure Park offers additional package options such as stand up paddle boarding and kayaking on the river, and surfing lessons at Talofofo Bay.
“We’ve partnered with Lotus Surf Shop to offer surf lessons at Talofofo Bay,” said Hannah Kloppenburg, assistant manager of marketing and sales for Valley of the Latte Adventure Park. “We’re also pleased to have Ron Acfalle and the Ulitao Chamorro cultural group perform cultural chants for our guests.”
The Adventure River Boat Cruise resident ticket price is $30 for adults and $20 for children. Book the cruise online or read up on all the options available to create a customized package tour at valleyofthelatte.com.
JC Rentals Guam
Specializing in freestyle jet ski tours out of Family Beach at Apra Harbor, JC Rentals Guam gives riders the freedom to ride where they want inside the harbor, as opposed to the closed circuit courses tourists are usually relegated to. Choose one of their unique jet ski tours to various spots including Sella Bay, Cetti Bay and Umatac Bay and see the towering cliffs of Guam from a perspective few get to experience. If there’s time, you might get to go ashore and explore sites that others would normally have to hike to.
In addition to their jet ski tours, JC Rentals Guam offers other marine adventure activities such as banana boat, ocean snorkeling, wake boarding, knee boarding and the screamer ride. Bernard Untalan, owner of JC Rentals Guam, says the company will soon add boat activities to their services.
“We’re getting ready to start offering dolphin watching, fishing and trolling in addition to our jet ski tours and other activities,” said Untalan. “We’ll be launching the boat activities in July.”
