Proa Restaurant

Proa Restaurants and Proa Patisserie have two branches located in Tumon and Hagatna. Combining culinary skills from Guam’s island heritage and other cultures around the world, Proa has some of the best barbecue dishes on the island. Using simple ingredients that compliment flavors from locally sourced produce and staples, their dishes have a balance of savory and sweet notes.
Try their Big Feller Trio of BBQ chicken, short ribs and spare ribs is grilled and caramelized with their Marianas Glaze for $17.95.
Churrasco Brazilian Steakhouse & Salad Bar

Located in Tumon Churrasco serves up a delicious barbecue beef, pork, chicken and sausage in the old-style tradition of Brazilian cowboys or “gauchos”. Known for their weekend lunch and daily dinner buffets. On August 15, they will be launching their My-rodizio weekday lunch where the bountiful salad bar, hot sides and barbecue are priced by the pound.
The freshest cuts offers meat are simply seasoned with sea salt, then grilled over an open flame and served hot off the skewer, preserving the natural, rich flavor of each tender cut. All you can eat meat with salad, soup and hot dishes is $25 on Saturdays and Sundays for lunch; and $38 on weekdays for dinner. Weekday lunch meats are priced $14.95/lb or $10.95/lb with salads and other dishes.
Meskla Chamorro Fusion Bistro

This very first Chamorro fusion restaurant in Guam opened in 2009 with popular chef and TV host Peter Duenas modernizing native cuisine with a ‘meskla’, or mixing, of traditional Chamorro fare with mostly Asian flavors and styles. The restaurant has a casual urban bistro atmosphere enhanced with island hospitality.
Their combination bbq short ribs and chicken plate is served with stir fried vegetables (bokchoy, onions and garlic) with your choice of rice (steamed, red or brown), French fries, or corn titiyas (flatbread). The dinner plate is $18.95; the lunch plate is $17.95.
Tunu Guam Barbecue Company

Tourists and locals flock at this food stall at the entrance of the Chamorro Village every Wednesday at the night market for their tinala’ katne or traditional meats, and smoked turkey. Their 2 lb smoked turkey leg, which is marinated in a special brine and smoked for 4-6 hours, sells for $10.
Asu Smokehouse

“Asu”, which means ‘to smoke’ in Chamorro, is a popular Wednesday night food stall in Chamorro Village. It is located in the pavilion across street the from the Paseo Baseball Stadium. The establishment maintains a low carbon footprint, eschewing petroleum based products, charcoal, propane, lighter fluids in favor of locally harvested hardwoods like tangan tangan, agao, and mango, and recycled newspaper.
Their 12-18 lb whole brisket of premium choice Black Mountain black hide Angus beef is slow-smoked for 14-18 hrs to transform beef collagen into healthy gelatin. This is served with their scratch made tomato-based and MSG-free SOS (sauce on the side) that is brewed for two weeks then smoked for 5-6 hrs. The brisket is sold by the pound or plate, with your choice of lean or moist cuts. A 1/2 lb plate comes with rice, vinegar-based coleslaw and their SOS at $12.75. A 1/4 lb is $6 and a 1/8 lb is $3.
Kris BBQ

Kris Bbq sets up their stall at the Dededo Flea Market on Saturdays and Sundays, and have 3 spots at the Wednesday Night Market at Chamorro Village — 1 across the street from the Bank of Hawaii, and 2 across the Fisherman’s Coop.
Their chicken and pork barbecues are marinated for 12 hours in a special kalbi-tasting sauce and served on sticks for $1.50 each or in plates for $8-10. The $10 plates include kelaguen, pancit and red rice.
Sunset Grill

Sunset Grill is a family restaurant with an outdoor seating area facing the ocean. Now in its 8th year, it is especially known for their brisket sandwiches and hamburgers, hamburgers and pizza on the grill.
Their beef brisket is smoked for 12 hours with cayenne and paprika spices. A 1/2 lb beef brisket sandwich is served with your choice of potato salad, coleslaw, red beans or rice, for $14.25.
Chesa Guam

This family owned coffee shop across the street from Untalan Miiddle School in Barrigada opened in Sept 2013 and quickly gained popularity, winning Best Kelaguen in Pika’s Best of Guam in 2014 and 2015.
Chesa offers smoked chicken, ribs, beef, pork plates. The meat is marinated in the traditional manner and smoked for 3-4 hours using the native tangan tangan wood. The plates come with red rice, vinaigrette cabbage and dinanche/finadene. A combo plate of two types of meat goes for $12.50.
Jamaican Grill

With 3 locations in Hagatna, Tumon and Dededo, Jamaican Grill has been serving Guam for more than 20 years, with a wide variety of meats and seafood dishes that have their signature “Ya Mon!” flavor – a unique mix of local island flavors and Jamaican jerk paste spiciness.
Their chicken and ribs combo comes with a quarter chicken and 3-4 of pork ribs, two scoops of rice (steamed rice, red rice, or Jamaican rice), and a cucumber and tomato salsa, all for $13 50.

This yellow and mint green food stall at the traffic light on Y Singsong in Dededo sells traditional Philippine dishes such as mami, longanisa, cornbeef and tocino. They are open 7 days a week until 9pm and will soon open at 5am.
Their Philippine style barbecue combines salty and sweet flavors, with hints of pineapple, lemons and peppers. Their spare ribs are boiled, marinated overnight and barbecued on sticks. Prices start at $1.75
