When Summer Town Estates opened in March of this year, it became Guam’s first private and affordable community built for seniors. The community aims to provide affordable, modern and safe rental housing for qualified applicants aged 55 years and older.
Summer Town Estates is located in Lada, Dededo, just minutes away from Guam Regional Medical City, several health clinics, shopping centers, supermarkets, restaurants, and other resources. While ideally situated, this tranquil community is still far enough away from the traffic and noise buzzing from the main roads.
Leases are available for one-bedroom (753 sq ft) and two-bedroom (1,009 sq ft) units, both with one full bathroom. The floor plans feel open and spacious owing to high ceilings, wide hallways, large doors and a warm neutral color palette. Tenants can opt for a shower or bathtub when selecting a unit.
Each unit is equipped with a solar-powered water heater, central air conditioning and washer and dryer hookups. Vertical blinds cover the large windows and allow for natural light during the day and privacy in the evening.
The kitchen is outfitted with an energy efficient refrigerator and stove and features solid wood cabinets and a deep stainless steel sink. The kitchen transitions seamlessly into the living space with the use of large ceramic tiles.
Each unit also comes with a planter’s box, which is located just outside the unit’s back door. Tenants may use the planter’s box for personal gardening. Some of the community’s current tenants are using their boxes to grow sweet potatoes, green onions and other vegetables.
Beyond the unit, Summer Town Estates offers terrific amenities such as a community center and gym with state of the art fitness equipment and key card access. Across the hall from the gym is a community ballroom that is available for tenants to rent for events and special occasions. In the same building is the on-site management office, open six days a week.
Next door to the community center, construction on the community swimming pool is currently underway, and plans for building a community commercial center are in development. The commercial center will feature a laundromat and a small grocer.
