Using organic household products is the best way to bring your healthy way of life full circle because it benefits everyone — the individual, the environment, and the local economy.

Take the word of Libby Pier, owner of Nuts and Grains, who has been operating her business for over 20 years.

“I grew up in Guam and noticed that there was not a lot of access to healthy products, which is why I started my business,” said Pier. “I wanted to help the people of Guam become healthier.”

Pier took the initiative to use organic products because she battled severe allergies growing up.

“My allergies stopped as soon as I began using organic products. Your living space greatly affects your health, so using organic household and body products is essential to maintaining a healthy home and body,” Pier continued.

As one of the local businesses that features an organic goods household section, patrons can be pleased to find items such as coconut oils, washes, soaps, toothpastes, shampoo, cotton balls, and cosmetics. Nuts and Grains truly offers a diverse selection of goods.

For locally sourced organic soaps and oils, a non-profit organization called Farm to Table Guam helps promote local farmers in the local economy.

“There is a demand for organic and locally sourced goods in the community,” said Cassie Brady, community awareness project assistant of Farm to Table.

Brady said, “In promoting the resources through the farmers that we have on the island, we can reach one of our goals in decreasing produce waste and helping the local economy grow.”

Annette Diola, a public school teacher, has been an avid supporter of local farmers.

“To stay healthy, I often visit local farmers markets and seek organic goods, whether it be household products or produce,” said Diola. “I have been a vegan for 10 years, and I can say that there has been a great call for organic goods in the past few years. Even my students are cognizant of staying healthy and ‘going organic.’”

Anyone can be a part of the healthy and environmentally conscious culture. Simply support local by purchasing organic household products from the local businesses and farmers markets around Guam. It is your next step to staying healthy!
